Series I’ve wanted to start but haven’t | Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. This topic was technically for June 20, but I wasn’t able to get this post published in time. The topic for June 27 the best books I’ve read so far in 2017, but I’ve only managed to read 3 books so far this year.  Since there are currently no topics for July, as there is a hiatus, I figured I’d still publish this post. Even if it is 2 weeks late. 1. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling Published by Bloomsbury on June 26, 1997 Genre: Fiction, Middle Grade, Fantasy Pages: 223 Format: Print, Hardcover Goodreads Harry Potter is an ordinary boy who lives in a cupboard under the stairs at his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon’s house, which he thinks is normal for someone like him whose parents have been killed in a ‘car crash’. He is bullied by them and his fat, spoilt cousin […]

Books I Want to Read This Summer | Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is a summer freebie, so I went with my top ten books I want to read this summer. Here is my TBR list! 1. The Trouble With goats and sheep by Joanna Cannon Published by Scribner on July 12, 2016 Genre: Fiction, Adult, Mystery, Historical Pages: 368 Format: Print, Hardcover Goodreads Set in England in 1976, in a heat wave. Mrs. Creasy is missing and the Avenue is alive with whispers. The neighbors blame her sudden disappearance on the heat wave, but ten-year-olds Grace and Tilly aren’t convinced. As the summer shimmers endlessly on, the girls decide to take matters into their own hands. Inspired by the local vicar, they go looking for God—they believe that if they find Him they might also find Mrs. Creasy and bring her home. This book just seems like the perfect summer read. I heard about this from both […]

My Reading Wish List | Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is things we’d like to see more of in books. Here is my bookish wish list! 1. More queer characters While there are books that have been getting better with representation. I think we need more books about trans characters, bisexual characters, and ace characters. The fact that a character is gay should also not be the only thing that defines them. Just write a character and slip it into the conversation. Make it natural and not a big deal. 2. More disabled characters As a disabled person who uses a wheelchair on a daily basis, I tend to stay away from books, movies, and television shows that involve disabled characters. This is because the characters are either portrayed as paralyzed and bitter about the fact that they’ll never walk again. I’m also tired of seeing the books where the character is pitied because […]

Favourite TV shows of all time | Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is tv related in honour of the fall tv shows returning, and I chose to do my top 10 favourite television shows of all time. Aside from reading books, I also like to spend countless hours watching too many shows for one person to keep up with. Asking me to pick my favourite tv show will result in me being very indecisive; it’s impossible to choose. This is really in no particular order, because I love them all too much. 1. Orphan Black This show is so good. I’m always asking people if they’ve seen it so I can talk about it with them. And if the haven’t seen it, I kind of pester them until they do. I really don’t want to give a description of the plot because it’s seriously better if you go into it without knowing anything. It’s so good. […]
