Hey everyone, once again I’m writing a post about why I haven’t posted in so long. If you’re new to my blog, I should probably tell you that I’m bad at making time for reading when I have other things to do. Actually, I think I’m just bad at reading in general. I definitely have a case of magpie syndrome. I get new books and instantly want to start reading them even though I have piles and piles of other books to read. This causes problems for my reading, but if I’m busy, this also causes problems for me.
I had a job throughout the summer, but I thought I was going to be able to read a lot after work. That didn’t happen, but I did manage to read on my commutes to work. After working for the summer, I started my Masters at University, which has been a little hectic. I have so much academic reading that I generally don’t make time for reading for pleasure. These are basically just excuses for me not making time for reading, but when I’m tired, I’d much rather watch a YouTube video or a television show. Anyway, long story short, I’m currently on my reading week, and I plan to get caught up (hopefully get ahead, actually) on my work. I need to make more time for reading! I also might have a month off in December, where I might have more time for reading (after I finish my term papers, that is), YAY!
I have a bunch of posts that I’m going to try and write along with doing my school work this week. I have a book review, a seriously late summer book haul, a book review, a few movie reviews, a post about a really cool day I had at the end of the summer, and I might even throw in some tag videos. I really hope I can manage to get everything done that I want to. Wish me luck!
I’m currently reading two books: Insurgent by Veronica Roth, and The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman. I’ve basically been hoarding my friend’s copies of the Divergent series for waaaay too long. I just need to finish them and give them back to her. I feel like she definitely won’t lend me any of her books ever again. I’m terrible. I’m also ridiculously excited to start reading The Book of Dust, which is an “equal” (prequel/sequel) to Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series!!!
